Patti LaBelle made a special guest appearance at the Swarovski Fashion Rocks Gala, Royal Albert Hall on 18 Oct 2007 in aid of The Prince’s Trust. She met Rocky before the show and at the end she recognised him and stopped to blow him a kiss and wave goodnight. She was amazing – incredible energy – she put all the Sugababes to shame – she is the orginal Suga Babe !! The show was recorded live and later edited for television. It was an absolute delight and a tribute to the organisers of Fashion Rocks to have invited two of the world’s greatest living legends to open and close the show. Dame Shirley Bassey set the standard for the evening when she opened the show and Miss Patti LaBelle brought the show to an electrifying close. I am glad that these 2 young birds got a look in – in today’s world that has become so obsessed with youth! With a combined age of 133 who said ageism exists ? What a night – enjoy !
